charles pennequin
cambrai, northern france, 1965
after initially devoting himself to various tasks, he began to
write, poetry above all, since meeting christian prigent, one of
the most outstanding present day poets in france. within a few
years he has published in the most reputed french poetry houses:
the poetry plaquette le père, ce matin (éditions carte blanche),
ça va chauffer, cerveau, mordre, storage (éditions derrière la
salle de bain), dedans (al dante), coco & bibi, quand c’est
carré, c’est carré (éditions de l’heure à charleroi), bibi (pol)
and mon binôme (pol). always from excellent texts, pennequin
offers a startling, emotion-ladden reading which, although it
sustains the poetry-reading shape, it’s extremely close to the
performance. he’s given countless readings all over france,
lives in brittany and is currently getting under way a new title
for al dante: je me jette, a joint effort with pascal doury,
including a dvd of their readings and produced by stéphane
collin.
